What I did
This week was packed! Summer stuff with the family and a slightly busier week at work too. But all good things!
Ezra is a builder. He likes taking whatever he can find and just building something out of it. For example, he found a box and built a hockey game out of it. He also found bigger boxes and make a robot out of it.

The kids has swim lessons all week. I was concerned that they would be nervous, but they did great! Still need to get more practice in, but at least they have a general sense of water safety.

Every night we do family prayer. Here’s a shot of Sheena and the kids reading the bible and Russell wanted to join in.

My parents had a huge harvest of backyard tomatoes, so I scooped a few up.

The last day of swim class, they did relay races. Ezzy won 2nd place.

We walk Russell 3 times a day. If we’re lucky, we’ll run into his girlfriend, Daisy.

On Friday, we had a quick weekend trip to Galveston. We rented a house and had our folks stay with us. Blesson and the family joined us on Saturday as well. Lots of pool time and beach time. It was great!

Although we have a large SUV, it was still difficult to find space for everything. The trailer hitch cargo cart that we have really came in handy!

Before we headed back to Houston, we had lunch at Katie’s Seafood Market. The place was really nice and the views were cool, but the food was underwhelming. It was highly rated and allowed dogs in their patio, so it worked out for us.

What did I learn
I learned that carving out time to spend with family is nice and necessary. Its an added bonus when it can be a unique experience. Like a quick trip to Galveston, spending time on the beach and hours in a pool. Setting up these experiences is a lot of work, but well worth it. For example, Blesson and I went to the beach a head of time to scope out a location, haul all the gear to the sand, set up the pop-up canopy, lay out the chairs and beach towels, etc.. Then the rest of the family arrived. Although we were sorta exhausted after doing all that, it was still worth it because it gave the family a comfortable “home base” while we were on the beach. I need to remind myself that its worth doing the extra work.
