What I did
This week was HOT! Looks like it’s only getting hotter! Here’s what we did. Layla tooks some cute shots of Russell

Every Wednesday in June is puppy bingo at Texas Biergarten! In the past we were never able to make time to go, but this Wednesday we made it happen! It was awesome! Plus Ezzy won a round of bingo and brought home some prizes too! But the real prize was holding puppies.

Our favorite was Snowball. The kids really wanted to bring him home, but I had to remind them that we already have a dog.

On Thursday we met up with Blesson and the kids for some swim time at their pool. They have one of those resort styled pools, so it was nice to have fun there with the cousins!
Saturday morning I woke up to a fathers day breakfast!

Shane wanted to hang with the kids, so while they went off to have lunch with Shane, Sheena and I took to opportunity to check out MidNMod furniture.

It was a 45 minute drive to Katy. I wasn’t too impressed as this was their clearance warehouse, but it had promise! Maybe we’ll check out their showroom next time. Before getting home we had a late lunch at Ramblecreek Grill next to our house.

Food there was excellent! Wasnt too fond of how dark the place it, but overall we really enjoyed it! Later that day, I got the kids to help me wash the truck. For those that are wondering, yes, I still have the truck. Although I’ve put it up for sale and had many people reach out, I’m being selfish and unreasonable on the price! haha..

The kids started reading this blog and caught a prior one where I said they didn’t do a good job in washing the truck. This time around, they did slightly better job 🙂
Nowadays we see a lot of blue herons in our neighborhood. Here’s a quick snap of one:

On Sunday Sheena put together a Father’s Day lunch at our house. It was great! Gumbo, Pasta Jambalaya, salad…

Sheena and the kids made a King Cake as well. We’re not too familiar with the tradition, but our neighbors had us over and we had king cake there. Sheena hid an almond and whoever’s piece had the almond became king for the day. Dean got it! Its a fun thing to do and delicious as well!
We also had a separate cake to celebrate Jolly’s birthday but Katie wasn’t feeling well, so Jolly and Katie headed home before we could get to it.
The kids made me some gifts as well!

Overall a great week!
What I learned
This week my lesson came from our trip to MidInMod Furniture. We were drawn to it because of the social media advertisements that popped up in our feed. The pics looks great and the sales really drew us in. To the point that we made the 45 minute drive to check things out. Sheena and I were even saying that we are “definitely” going home with something today solely based on the ads. Although it wasn’t horrible, it really wasn’t what I expected. So the lesson is that it’s good to keep an open mind, but don’t mentally over commit until you know all of the facts!
