On January 7th, 19xx, Jaison “Pokie” Joshua was born. On January 7th, 2014. I forgot to wish him a happy birthday.
Pokie is a great dude and a really great friend. Every year without fail, he’s the first one to wish me a Happy Birthday via text exactly at midnight. I don’t know how he does it. Many of those years, I’m sleeping while that text comes in and don’t get it till I wake up. I’ve always been bad about birthdays. Outside of my immediate family, I don’t really wish people Happy Birthday, unless we’re at a birthday party, and of course you acknowledge it then.
It’s not that I don’t care, but I just don’t remember. Now with Facebook, you get a friendly reminder of your friend’s bdays and you’re able to shoot ’em a quick message. Great tool! But what about those that are not on Facebook?
Anyway, this year I wanted to make it a point to wish Pokie a happy birthday, but forgot. The day after this birthday at 3:30pm I remembered and shot him a frantic text with an apologetic “happy birthday”. Sad, I know. But that’s where this blog post comes in.
Pokie mentioned to me that he want’s to beat Dudley’s record at the most comments on my blog this year, so I know that he’s reading this. I hope this makes up for forgetting!
I would post a pic of Pokie, but he’s recently gone through an amazing transformation where he lost a few pound and looks great! Like jaw-dropping great. I don’t have an updated pic, so didn’t wanna post something that was dated.

Thanks Sajan. This definitely makes up for forgetting. I see that I am moving up the friendship category. I went from friend, to close friend, to now really great friend. Next year when you forget, hopefully I can get the title “a really good friend who can borrow my truck (if it starts) for free.”
