Nowadays, since we have kids, we try our best to stay home on New Year’s Eve. We enjoy hanging with people and all that jazz, but New Year’s Eve is when we prefer to stay home because of all the potential dangers on the road… We did not do that this year. We were invited to 2 NYE parties, but we planned on staying home with the kids, so we declined. At the last minute, Layla requested to go to watch night service with Sheena’s Mom. So we dropped both kids off with Mom at her church for a few hours… in those few hours, we headed to our friend’s house for an NYE party.

Here’s my hot date!

Roomies… well, not all at the same time, but each of ’em lived with Lisa at one point.
MJ was the DJ…
At around 10:15pm, we left, scooped up the kids and headed home. Kids were tired (and we were too!). The next morning (Friday – New Years Day) we headed to my brother’s house for brunch.
The spread was awesome!
Joshy came as well!
Here are the girls just chilling!
Layla’s “helping” Ezzy open his gift from Wes Uncle and Kasey Aunty.
We ended up staying there for quite some time! We didn’t get home until around 6pm.
Layla got a gift too. She was determined to make something.
Here are the kids winding down with some TV time.
The next day (January 2nd), we were invited to our friends Paul and Amy’s house for lunch. Things were kicked off with some songs and then a prayer.
Then we were grubbing. Ashok and I noted that we’ve become the uncles who get to sit at the dinning table…. I’m a grown up now!
Later that evening we dropped off the kids with my folks for a sleepover. Sheena and I joined Shane and some cousins for an Escape Room. We got there a lil early, so we hung out at Woosters.
Once the rest of the crew came, we headed up.
An Escape room is where you’re locked in a room with various clues. Its up to the group to make our way through the clues and “break” out. We weren’t allowed to snap pics inside, but here we are in the waiting room.
We didn’t make it out….
… but we were very close! If we had an extra 5 minutes, we woulda broke outta there! We rarely have nights without the kiddos, so we extended the night with dinner at Mai’s.
I had the Gu Luc Lac
Afterwards, we went to Shane’s place to have dessert. We bought a frozen pie. It was awesome, but we needed to thaw it out. Janie took the honors of handling that.
In the meantime, Justin and Andrew thawed each other out.
Awkward…..
Rest of the weekend, we just chilled at home.
Overall, A pretty fun New Years Weekend. I hope everyone had a great time as well! Here’s to an awesome 2016! Cheers!
