This Thanksgiving was special because it was Blesson and Jolly’s first time back to Houston since they got married. So needless to say my parents were very excited. They took an entire week off from work for it! I’m not going to lie, I was pretty happy about it too.
Since the whole family was together, Blesson wanted to make it a big feast… and he did. They bought a 26 pound turkey and set it in a brine for 3 days!

Then we all made numerous sides such as mashed potatoes (from scratch), gravy (from the juices of the turkey), sweet potatoes casserole (from scratch), green bean casserole, ham, scalloped potatoes (made by Stan Thomas), corn on the cob and corn casserole (from Wes, Kasey and Priya) and a bunch of different desserts. It was all heavenly.
Then I finished my first plate. Oddly enough, I was pretty full after the first serving! I didn’t event get to try it all out! Needless to say, I took my pants completely off to avoid any restrictions and plowed my way through a second plate. That wasn’t the best idea. I was soo stuffed that I really couldn’t do much else but roll off my chair and lay on the floor.
After dinner, we chilled out for a bit and then headed to my house for game night. A few more peeps stopped by and we had a good time just hanging out. Spades is the game of choice when everyone is together, but we discovered a new game called Last Word that made its way into our lives. It’s pretty fun. If you’re ever at our house, remind us of it and we’ll play a round. I think you’ll get hooked.
It’s almost a week after Thanksgiving day and I’m still eating turkey and the fixings with no sign of end in sight. We’ve got so much food leftover that I really don’t know what to do with it. If anyone is reading this and has a craving for a good Thanksgiving meal, give me a holla!
