I’ve been doing a few projects around the house. As you probably already know, when you have the right tools, it makes the job so much easier. I purchased a Ryobi Miter Saw around August 2011. It was great. Now I’d be able to cut very straight lines and even cut angles quickly! Although I already had a circular saw, having a miter saw just made projects much easier (and fun).
While I was doing my fence project (only a year after I purchased it), I noticed that the saw wasn’t working properly and was actually smoking! I’m no rocket scientist but I don’t think it’s supposed to do that. Luckily it has a 2 year manufacturer warranty, so I brought it in to Empire Tools in Stafford, TX. They have horrible hours so I had to come in to work late just to make it happen. The dude said that they’ll simply replace the motor and we’ll be good as new. I dropped off the saw at the end of Aug. 2012. I finally got my saw back in the beginning of October! The dude said that he would call me when it was ready, but since it started to feel like it was taking too long I gave them a call to check up on things. Only until I called is when they told me that it was ready. It was very frustrating, but I’m getting the work done for free, so I’ll just keep my mouth shut. Luckily, I’m just a hobbyist and there aren’t really any deadlines for me to get things done. Plus I have the benefit of borrowing my friend, Manju Mani’s, miter saw.
But now that I’ve finally got it back home, I can start up some new projects! I tested it out last night and it seems to be as good as new!
