My family is from Nilambur. Edakkara to be exact. It’s on the northern part of Kerala and about an 8 hour drive from Kozhenchery.
We left late in the day and because of that, we got stuck in traffic in the bigger cities so it actually took us 11 hours to get there. Luckily we had a pretty comfortable, air conditioned SUV to take us there.
My parents recently built a house in Nilambur so I wanted to go check it out. Plus a daughter of my cousin (on my Mom’s side) was getting married, which brought a bunch of family to Nilambur so I was able to see a few of them as well! One cousin (Chinju) came in from Bangalore. Another cousin (Biju) flew in from Delhi and his brother (Binu) flew in from Australia with his wife and son. Its been so long since I’ve seen them so it was amazing to get to catch up.
We only had one full day in Nilambur, but while we were there, we checked out a Teak Museum and a very large hanging bridge that lead us to one of the first teak tree plantations.
