This past weekend we made the drive to Oklahoma City to visit Sheena’s cousins.
We left Houston at 10:30pm on Thursday night. The thought was that we could drive through the night so that the kids could sleep the entire way and we’d have a full Friday to spend with family. It worked out. We got there around 6:30am. Once we got there, we basically slept for a few hours, woke up and went to Sheena’s aunt’s house for lunch. Here’s a shot of the 2 youngest (Ezzy and Ava) playing peak-a-boo.
Afterwards, we headed back to Andy and Nancy’s house to just kick it.
The kids played…
We basically just kicked it for the rest of the evening. It was nice to just hangout and chat. The next morning, we slept in, but Andy, Nancy and the kids went to Nancy’s school for volleyball practice. We joined ’em closer to the end of their practice to just say hi to some friends and to get outta the house a bit.
Then we headed out to lunch with Sheena’s cousin Vinod and his family. After stuffing our faces, we headed back to Nancy’s house to dye some eggs for the Easter Egg hunt.
Later that evening another one of Sheena’s uncles invited us to dinner at their house. We would have love to have gone see them, but Andy bought tickets to the Thunders/Spurs game that evening. The wives and kids headed to dinner, while the guys headed downtown to the game. Outside of the garage we parked at, they gave a chance at winning your money back by making a shot on their goal. I won’t tell you the end result, but here’s Shane lining up his shot!
The Thunder won. I’m not a Thunder fan, or a big sports guy in general, but it’s always fun to go to a game and enjoy the energy there!
The next morning, Nancy encourage us to eat some hard boiled eggs for breakfast (since we had 30 of ’em from the Easter Egg hunt!) Check out the one Layla made (it’s got her name on it!).
Around 10:30am, we made our way out the door and on our way back to Houston. Since it was daylight, the kids were up for a part of the drive, so we had to make a few stops. One of which is a nice rest stop that had a playground. It was great for the kids to stretch their legs and get some play time in. They really loved it.
The drive wasn’t too bad. We rented a minivan, so we had space to stretch out a bit. Having Shane there to split the drive up with was helpful too.
Overall a fun weekend! It’s a long drive, but well worth it to hang out with family!
Here’s a quick movie I made of our trip!
